Attention Snowbirds, et al: Election mail cannot be forwarded by the Post Office
Please be advised that if you are temporarily away and have requested the USPS to forward your home’s mail to your temporary address, you will not receive your Absent Voter Ballot Application or Ballot. Any election mail that is sent to your residence while you have mail forwarded will be returned to the Clerk’s Office. It is advised that you contact the Clerk’s Office to ensure we have your phone or email address information so that you can be contacted in the event mail is returned to us during election time.
Absent Voter Ballot Applications have a section to provide your temporary address so that ballots can be mailed directly to you if you are away from your permanent residence. Be sure to note the date you are leaving your home and date you will be returning home. Depending on the timing of mailing, we will determine if we need to mail to the temporary address or not.
Note: By law, the Clerk’s office may mail your ballot only to your registered address within Independence Township, or to any address outside of Independence Township, if you are out of town.
