McCord Property and the Clarkston Community Garden
The Stickney-McCord family donated the property to Independence Township in 1998. The only access to the property at this time is through participation of the Clarkston Community Garden. Roughly, the Garden only takes up 3 of the 34 acres. There is an 8 ft tall deer fence surrounding the Garden, accessible through a wide swing gate. 100 share garden plots are rentable on an annual basis. The Garden also includes: a storage shed, picnic tables, a water spigot, and porta john is available for use. This property is scheduled for future improvements to include a parking lot and walking trails.
