Calling All Volunteers

With the tightening of budgets across America, all organizations are looking to save costs. For Parks and Recreation Departments, volunteers have been the center of our programs for years. Volunteers allow us to serve more people with smaller budgets, bring new energy and ideas too! Because in recent years volunteerism is up, we can still afford to provide successful special events and beautiful parks in Independence Township.

Whether you need community-based volunteer hours for high school or college or for court appointed volunteer hours, Parks, Recreation & Seniors is the place to be. We provide many opportunities to work outside and the unique opportunity to give back to the community you live in, to make it a better place.

We have plenty of special events where your church, school, or civic organization can make a difference in a successful program. We’ll be sure to give you recognition!

Or perhaps you have an Eagle Scout Badge to earn? We have many parks that need new signs or kiosks built, raised beds in our Community Garden or trails that need improvements.

You can even volunteer your time to see if Parks, Recreation & Seniors is the profession you like to try!

Volunteer, it will make you feel better! Download a Volunteer Opportunities form at under Forms and Flyers and return it to the Parks, Recreation & Seniors Department, or use the form below.
